Characteristics

Description
The SBP bearing is a three-layer bearing consisting of a steel mantel and a sintered bronze middle layer that is impregnated and coated with a polyoxymethylene (POM) polymer. The layer is provided with lubrication indents that should be filled with a suitable grease before mounting the shaft. A SBP bearing is a good interface greased bearing, which can be used at relatively high loadings, with rotary and oscillatory motions and frequent starting and stopping. The thin layer that constitutes the bearing’s surface, should be well protected to avoid damage during assembly and from heat e.g. from welding.

Lubrication
The SBP is primarily intended to be used with lubrication. Additional lubrication should be introduced through the shaft openings or radially via the housing. All the normally available greases can be used, however, greases containing additives of graphite or molybdenum should be avoided. The SBP bearing has relatively good emergency running characteristics and requires in many cases comparatively little lubricant. |
