Characteristics
Description The SWPB bearing is a two-layer bearing consisting of a steel mantle and a bearing surface of lead-bronze. The sliding surface of the standard bearing is provided with lubricant indents over the whole surface. The steel mantle on the standard bearing is copper plated to improve its corrosion resistance. Since the sliding surface is made from a lead-bronze compound, the SWPB bearing has good emergency running characteristics and thereby can tolerate long periods without additional lubrication.
The bearing can be also manufactured with a modification margin, in which case the internal dimension can be adjusted to the desired tolerance after assembly. The sliding surface’s material can be selected to match the specific requirements for the bearing conditions.
Lubrication Additional lubrication should be introduced through the shaft openings or radially via the housing. All the normally available greases can be used. The SWBP bearing has relatively good emergency running characteristics and requires, in many cases, very little lubricant.
